ATLR- DID THEY RIP ME OFF? Shoulda gone to dealer. $1,193 for standard service, in 39 miles car broke down, 15 miles later- was scrap. I have documents (odometer readings, 2 Pep Boys & 1 Mountain States Toyota repair bills, txt from Jesse/owner, tow receipt, inspection by Mountain States of ATLR's "work". 209,389 miles dropped at ATLR, Jesse asked what service I need, replied guess 90/K,(2 dealers estimate 90/K service $839-$1,200 worst case, ALL parts replaced/ inspection) Jesse called said a few minor items need replacing, I replied -if they are in the 90/k, just do the 90/k". Shocked, he billed $1,193.79, I stated car better be good for a long time (Landcruisers can get 300/K). Jesse stated- should get 100/k & next 30/k just filters, oil, etc (I repeatedly confirmed point). He billed $600 for 4+/- hours labor-excessive, also surprised doesn't accept AMEX (not a good sign). During follow up call, Jesse stated ATLR video/records all conversation at phone/desk/ shop. (Seems like a weird statement from an above board business, but please...post the unedited recordings I EMPLORE YOU). ATLR odometer read was 209,389 at 209,428 pushed car to Pep Boys with fluid shooting out. When shown ATLR invoice, Pep Boys reported ATLR likely didn't re-pressurize system (standard procedure). Cost me $261, Jesse/ATLR felt bad, but took no responsibility, wouldn't even consider paying a portion (have supporting txt). 15 miles later, my car was being pushed to Pep Boys (again), 2 days later Pep Boys said tow it to the dealer. Towed to Toyota, car needed $9,000+ work. Many of the things, if ATLR had done ANY inspections included in 90/K (or poss inspected, saw & ignored), would have been seen. Disk were gone, this inspection's included in the 90/K, and the steering rack was leaking so heavily it was/would have been noticeable SECOND up on lift. Work needed was more than blue book, so I sold it for basically parts. Toyota's guess, Jessie noticed additional work, but informing me would've made initial work ($1,193) not worth doing. After all this, Jessie's response- a list of-not my fault, car was old (all of the sudden NOW AFTER he billed me for $1,193, never made statement prior), it was the prior mechanics worked, etc etc etc (FYI I have several txt from him with above statements). I threatened to sue, Jessie counter was well prepared (Im assuming heard this before), but as you know it's difficult, cost money, would need to bring a mechanic & I need to save for a car.
